New to the Cafe at Books & Books, we're treating your senses to chocolate and wine pairings. You will learn how to train your palate to taste wines and chocolate like the best of them. Money may not grow on trees, but we're thankful chocolate does. It all starts with a small tropical tree, the Theobroma cacao, typically referred to as “cacao" - pronounced ka-KOW. Ensure an environment with heat, humidity, and plenty rainfall throughout the year and the allow nature to do it's job. Cacao is native to Central and South America, but is cultivated throughout the tropics, parts of Africa and East Asia. Our tasting will showcase a variety of specialty chocolates that any aficionado can appreciate. Seating is limited, so reserve your spot soon!
Chef Allen Susser is a Bean to Bar single estate boutique chocolate maker. He has pioneered a signature intense, aromatic chocolate in the Caribbean. Allen will personally share his secrets to creating small batches of cacao beans that are slow roasted and converted to stone ground goodness.
