Tamara B. Rodriguez wrote Teo the Great and her first children’s book Hair to the Queen! to help families start the conversation about cancer in a light-hearted and fearless way. The illustrated series empower adults to discuss cancer with children in a simple and compassionate way. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, Tamara wanted to talk about the disease with her two young daughters, but struggled to find the right words. To help families start the conversation in a light-hearted and fearless way, Tamara decided to write Hair to the Queen!, which was inspired by her personal experience. A childrens book illustrator and freelance artist, Carole A. Smith also illustrated The Shadows of Nivia, The Garden of Enchantment, and Hair to the Queen!
